Encoding Mars in Cankarica

At Ivan Cankar Elementary School in Zagreb, Croatia, National Astronomy Week is already being widely celebrated. As an introduction to the events in the third grade, had a workshop called "Encoding Mars" where students learned the basics of programming through making an astro documentary about the beauties of the universe. Encouraged by the workshop, they further explored what the universe consists of with an emphasis on the solar system. They also made an educational film about what they learned for students from many schools in Croatia. They will also study what rockets are and what they are for, and make their models, which will be exhibited in the school lobby. Through artwork, they will be portrayed one day of astronauts in space. They will discover is life on Mars possible and how did animals travel to Space trough history. 

In the coming days we will learn what a day in the life of an astronaut looks like and we will make models of rockets that we will launch in the school yard. We have connected with many schools in Croatia and the EU with which we share materials and works. You can watch our films at the following links:
